First Nations Producer for National Indigenous Art Fair and Blak Markets

  • Location: Sydney, La Perouse but capacity for some work from home.

  • Employment Type: Permanent full-time or 3-5 days per week

  • Salary: $100,000 p/a full time including Superannuation with salary sacrificing options.

    Position Overview: The Producer will oversee all aspects of production for our signature projects, the National Indigenous Art Fair (NIAF) and the Blak Markets, from concept through to completion. Working closely with directors, artists, designers, and technical teams, you will ensure the smooth execution of our productions, balancing artistic vision with logistical and financial realities. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver, a strong communicator, and someone with an understanding of the arts industry. 

    This position reports directly to the General Manager of NIAF & the Blak Markets. 

    Permanent position with a 3 month trial period.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage the production process from development to post-production (or performance).

    • Work closely with the NIAF General Manager & creative team to help shape and execute the artistic vision of each project.

    • Coordinate logistics, including scheduling, budgeting, and hiring key production staff.

    • Work with the CEO and General Manager to secure funding, partnerships etc through investors, grants & sponsorships.

    • Supervise and mentor production staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

    • Work with Marketing team to ensure marketing, promotion, and audience engagement for each project.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during production.

    • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.

    • Occasional weekend work when events are held

    • Work with an event manager on the National Indigenous Art Fair however you will be required to do event mangement for the Blak Markets.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience as a producer, production or event manager, or similar role

    • Understanding of the artistic process and creative project management.

    • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

    • Experience in budgeting

    • Ability to work well under pressure and solve problems creatively.

    • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage other partners in the production process

    • A passion for the arts and a commitment to fostering creativity and innovation.

    Preferred Skills & Experience:

    • Experience working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.

    • A network of contacts in the arts and entertainment industry.

    • Knowledge of marketing and promotional strategies for arts projects.

    • Own transport. (work phone provided)
